‘Purple Up’ Giveaway

On Saturday, all Fort Gordon Main Exchange restaurants will ‘Purple Up’ for military kids, offering a free side item, fountain drink or dessert for children 18 and younger who are wearing purple.

Children’s Theatre Auditions

Auditions for the Missoula Children’s Theatre production of Robin Hood will be held Monday at 4:30 p.m. Older actors will stay after to begin rehearsal (a sack lunch is suggested). Parts for 50-60 children, K-12 (5 to 18 years), are available. No advance preparation is necessary. Assistant directors will also be cast to assist with the technical aspects of the production. MCT tour actor/directors will conduct rehearsals throughout the week, Monday through Friday, 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., for all participants. An additional rehearsal will be held from 6:45 until 8:45 p.m. for older actors Monday.

Sportsman’s Club

Join the Sportsman’s Club and take part in exclusive benefits that come with membership. Receive 50 percent off of range fees, unique “membership only” programs and activities, volunteer opportunities, and more. Sportsman’s Club meets the third Thursday of the month. Career, Coffee & Conversation

Join Employment Readiness at the first Career, Coffee and Conversation gathering on April 19 at 11 a.m. Converse about careers, career development, job searching and applying for federal employment. Take part in an open and stress-free environment where you can share your career experiences, get advice about your job search, talk about future career plans, employment opportunities in the area, and support each other in our career development process. Splash n’ Dash

Introduce your child(ren) to the world of multisport in a safe environment. Participants will begin at the Indoor Pool, then transition to a run which will take place on a closed route on the Barton Field track directly behind the pool. The Splash-n-Dash will be on April 20 at 9 a.m. Cost is $10 per participant. Register online at fortgordonrunseries.com, or call 706-791-3034.

Learn to Shoot Skeet

Ready, and pull! Join TASC for their Learn to Shoot Skeet class and find out more about all the ins and outs of Clay Shooting Sports on April 20 from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. For $40 per person you’ll receive instruction, shotgun rental, range fees and ammunition will also be covered. Grand Opening STEM Innovation Center

Join CYS for their grand opening of the STEM (Science, Technology, and Engineering & Mathematics) Innovations Center on April 25 from 4 to 6 p.m. This is a free event open to military children, their families and the surrounding community to provide hands-on STEM activities to showcase the MST’s newest program. Food, fun, and engaging activities will be offered to all that attend. This event will also serve as a way to introduce and showcase what the Fort Gordon Middle School & Teen Center (Bldg. 41503, 165 Brainard Ave. Fort Gordon 30905) has to offer. Celebrate Month of the Military Child

Celebrate all military children at the Month of the Military Child event on April 26 from 5 to 7 p.m. The goal is to provide military families with an opportunity to meet together in a supportive community environment where they participate interactively in activities and with informative displays all while celebrating the Month of the Military Child. There will be fun life-sized interactive games, displays and activities from various organizations, vendors and sponsors all meeting together in the School-Age Center (Bldg. 45410, 46th St. Fort Gordon 30905). Paint Party

Grab a loved one or friend and come out to Hilltop Riding Stable for a Paint Me Pretty Party on April 26 at 6:30 p.m. This event is open to the public, but space is limited. The cost will include all supplies, light appetizers and beverages. Patrons 21 and older are welcome to bring their own beer and wine to enjoy at this event. Participants of all skill levels will be instructed on how to paint this month’s artwork on canvas. Cost is $60 per couple. You must preregister by April 24. Register by calling 706-791-4300.

Superhero Bash

The Mother and Son Superhero Bash is back again May 5! Join us for a night centered on the bond between a mother and her son(s). Job Fair

The Georgia Department of Labor, Fort Gordon, the Augusta Career Center, and the Soldiers for Life-Transition Assistance Program (SFL-TAP) on Fort Gordon will host the annual Veterans’ Job Fair, May 7, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The event will be held at the Fort Gordon Army Reserve Center, Bldg. 14401, located at the corner of Lane Avenue and 15th Street. Seventy-five local, state, and national employers will participate. Job seekers should bring copies of their resume and should dress for success. The job fair is open to the public. Swimming Lessons

The Indoor Pool will be having spring swimming lessons! There will be evening group lessons for children and adults as well as private swim lessons. All classes will be held at the Indoor Pool. Registration is open and will remain open until all slots are filled. Swim lessons will go through May 11. Registration must be completed in person at the Indoor Pool. AFGE Local Union Meeting

Over-30 Basketball

Over-30 Basketball is part of DFMWR’s Intramural Sports Program, where active individuals will have the opportunity to play in a fun, sport against other individuals for fun. This league is open to active duty Servicemembers, DA/DoD civilians, contractors, spouses, dependents and retirees. Men and women welcome. Teams must have a signed, by their battalion commander, Memorandum of Intent to play. Coaches’ meeting will take place on Thursday at 6 p.m. at Sports Office. Scholarship

The American Legion expanded its scholarship program to include children of VA-rated, post-9/11 Veterans with a combined disability rating of 50 percent or higher.
