Retiree Appreciation Day

The Fort Gordon Retiree Appreciation Day is scheduled for 8 a.m. Saturday at Darling Hall. Briefings and medical screenings will be available from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. A lunch choice of soup and salad or the taco bar will be served at noon in the Gordon Conference and Catering Center for $10. BOSS Competition

Team up and take on the 2018 BOSS Iron Unit competition Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. With four-member teams and a course of 11 obstacles to get through, help your team earn bragging rights! But, if your unit doesn’t have a team to participate, feel free to compete as an individual. Registration will occur the morning of the event. For more details, call (706) 791- 5902.

T-Mobile info session

T-Mobile is on a mission to hire 10,000 Veterans and military spouses over the next five years. The company will be holding an information session Monday, from 9-11 a.m., at the Family Outreach Center, hosted by Fort Gordon Employment Readiness.

Baby Massage

Bond with your baby and learn to soothe them during rough nights with a quick massage. New Parent Support is hosting infant massage instructional classes at the Family Outreach Center on Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. Register by calling (706)791-5220.

Storytime

Join the New Parent Support Program for Story Time at the Family Outreach Center, Tuesday from 1 to 3 p.m. This is a great opportunity to get the littles out of the house and to socialize with other parents and kids. Registration is required and open to families with children ages 0-4 years old. Older siblings are welcome. Space is limited so please register early. For more information, call (706) 791-5220.

Machine Gun Shoot

Fort Gordon Outdoor Recreation and the Fort Gordon Sportsman’s Club present the 2018 Fall Machine Gun Shoot, Nov. 10, noon to 8 p.m. Come out and watch these professional shooters fire these amazing weapons. Food and beverage will be available for purchase, supporting Outdoor Recreation and the Sportsman’s Club from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Those interested in shooting, please contact Fort Gordon Outdoor Recreation at (706)791-5078.

Book Club

Expand your reading shelf with the all new Woodworth Library Book Club! A new title will be discussed every month on the second Tuesday at the Woodworth Library Café. The next meeting will be Nov. 13 from 5:30-7:30pm. Coffee and water will be provided and members are encouraged to bring a light snack for themselves or to share! Memorial Ceremony

Fort Gordon will remember German and Italian prisoners of war buried on post in a wreath laying ceremony at 2 p.m., Nov. 18, at the German-Italian Cemetery next to the old Gate 2. The event is open to the public.

Create with Me

ACS is hosting a “Create with Me” series of workshops with the Morris Museum of Art in Downtown Augusta. The next one is Nov. 20. These workshops are to help kids become interested in the amazing world of art and creating. All children are welcome to join them at the Family Outreach Center to learn from 10-11 a.m. Call (706)791-5220 for more details.

Health and Wellness Fair

Do you have a business or organization that focuses on health and wellness? Would you like to participate as a demonstrator or sponsor? Save the date for our 2019 Health and Wellness Fair on Jan. 12. This event brings awareness to our Fort Gordon Servicemembers, families and the surrounding area about how to live a healthier lifestyle. Brown Bag Bible Study

The Center Chaplain’s Office sponsors a Brown Bag Bible Study every Tuesday, 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., in Darling Hall, Room 188D. Gordon Car Care

In addition to the services provided by ASE technicians, Gordon Car Care also offers an Auto Skills area with instructors on hand to guide you as you work on your own vehicle. Patrons must attend a Shop Certification Class before using the Auto Skills area. Classes are offered during business hours, Wednesday through Sunday. For more information, call 706-791-2390.

Strength Board

Gordon Fitness Center has a new strength record board. Patrons can come and display their strength in the squat, bench press, deadlift, pushups and sit-ups. Troops to Teachers

The Education Services Division hosts a briefing the second Thursday of each month from 10 a.m. to noon at the Command Support Center, Bldg. 35200, located at 271 Heritage Park Lane. Benefits, financial assistance and incentives, counseling/referral services will be covered. Program is open to current and former Servicemembers with “Honorable” period of service. Consumer Health Website

The EAMC Health Sciences Library now offers access to the Health & Wellness Resource Center website. HWRC provides 24/7, user-friendly access to a vast array of trustworthy and up-to-date health news and information. Special features include a Spanish-language search filter, text-to-speech technology, and the ability to translate into 40 languages and the user interface into 34 languages. All members of the Fort Gordon community and their immediate family members may register by calling (706)787- 4446/4447, Monday through Friday, between 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
