Installation Halloween Night

Halloween will be observed in Fort Gordon housing areas this year on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. Important items of note: the Installation Halloween Night is not open to off-post personnel and the Boardman Lake area will be off-limits. Both law enforcement and assigned Servicemembers will provide increased safety measures, such as traffic control and foot patrols during the two-hour trick-or-treating window. Retiree Outreach

The Fort Gordon Retiree Council Board will host outreach events from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Main Exchange and Commissary. The Retiree Council aims to assist retired military personnel, their widows and widowers, within the Fort Gordon retirement services area.

Firearms Class

The next Rifle and Pistol class, Nov. 3, is for firearm enthusiasts of all ages and those interested in firearms. The classes are open to all individuals 12 years of age and up. Cost is $40 per participant and includes instruction, range fees, ammunition and lunch. For more info or to register, call (706)791-5078.

Retiree Appreciation Day

The Fort Gordon Retiree Appreciation Day is scheduled for 8 a.m. Nov. 3 at Darling Hall. Briefings and medical screenings will be available from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. A lunch choice of soup and salad or the taco bar will be served at noon in the Gordon Conference and Catering Center for $10. T-Mobile info session

T-Mobile is on a mission to hire 10,000 Veterans and military spouses over the next five years. The company will be holding an information session Nov. 5, from 9-11 a.m., at the Family Outreach Center, hosted by Fort Gordon Employment Readiness.

Machine Gun Shoot

Fort Gordon Outdoor Recreation and the Fort Gordon Sportsman’s Club present the 2018 Fall Machine Gun Shoot, Nov. 10, noon to 8 p.m. Come out and watch these professional shooters fire these amazing weapons. Health and Wellness Fair

Do you have a business or organization that focuses on health and wellness? Would you like to participate as a demonstrator or sponsor? Save the date for our 2019 Health and Wellness Fair on Jan. 12. This event brings awareness to our Fort Gordon Servicemembers, families and the surrounding area about how to live a healthier lifestyle. Brown Bag Bible Study

The Center Chaplain’s Office sponsors a Brown Bag Bible Study every Tuesday, 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., in Darling Hall, Room 188D. Strength Board

Gordon Fitness Center has a new strength record board. Patrons can come and display their strength in the squat, bench press, deadlift, pushups and sit-ups. Troops to Teachers

The Education Services Division hosts a briefing the second Thursday of each month from 10 a. m. to noon at the Command Support Center, Bldg. 35200, located at 271 Heritage Park Lane. Benefits, financial assistance and incentives, counseling/referral services will be covered. Program is open to current and former Servicemembers with “Honorable” period of service. Consumer Health Website

The EAMC Health Sciences Library now offers access to the Health & Wellness Resource Center website. HWRC provides 24/7, user-friendly access to a vast array of trustworthy and up-to-date health news and information. Special features include a Spanish-language search filter, text-to-speech technology, and the ability to translate into 40 languages and the user interface into 34 languages. All members of the Fort Gordon community and their immediate family members may register by calling (706)787- 4446/4447, Monday through Friday, between 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

MWR Scavenger Hunt

You could win an amazing grand prize after completing the 2nd annual MWR Scavenger Hunt. Pick up the latest copy of the FYI at most major locations on base and look on page 7.

Parenting Academy

Parenting can be very rewarding but doesn’t necessarily come with an instruction manual! The Parenting Academy is a series of 10 workshops covering different aspects of raising children from kids and technology to alternative parenting. New Parent Support

New Parent Support has a plethora of programs and events for families with children 4 and under. From playgroups to art session and massage instruction, they help to build the bond between parents and their new family member. Employment Readiness

The Army Community Service Employment Readiness Program offers free classes and workshops to help spouses land their dream job. Steps to Federal Employment is held the second and fourth Monday of each month. This workshop will walk you through every step to apply for federal employment. Resume Writing 101 is available for those seeking employment in the private sector. Registration is required. Workshops target military spouses, but are open to all military and DOD civilian ID cardholders.
