The command calls itself “The Army’s Home” because it handles the day-to-day operations of U.S. Army installations around the globe providing Army communities many of the same types of services expected from any small city.

Emergency management, fire departments, law enforcement, housing, child-care and recreation opportunities are just some of the services IMCOM is responsible for.

The command is headquartered at Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas, and, on Sept. 5, they welcomed a new commanding general, Lt. Gen. Bradley Becker.

Becker assumed command from Lt. Gen. Kenneth Dahl during a change of command ceremony held on the MacArthur Parade Field at Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston.

Becker has a videotaped welcome message available online in which he touches on his role and outlines his priorities as commanding general.

Becker also introduces his “battle buddies” Command Sgt. Maj. Melissa Judkins, IMCOM command sergeant major; Maj. Gen. Tim McGuire, IMCOM deputy commanding general; and J. Randall Robinson, IMCOM’s executive deputy to the commanding general.

Read more about Becker in next week’s issue of The Globe, and view his welcome message at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2_ j7eXt2hKw&feature=youtu.be.
