Rifle Tournament

Join Tactical Advantage Sportsman’s Complex for the .22 caliber rimfire rifle tournament Sunday. The tournament will be conducted in the civilian marksmanship program style. Competitors will be divided into age groups, 16 and under (minimum age 10 years old) , 17 and up. All shooters under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. To register, call (706)791-5078.

Troops to Teachers

The Education Services Division hosts a briefing the second Thursday of each month from 10 a.m. to noon at the Command Support Center, Bldg 35200, located at 271 Heritage Park Lane. Benefits, financial assistance and incentives, counseling/referral services will be covered. Program is open to current and former Servicemembers with “Honorable” period of service. SAMC Induction

There will be a Sergeant Audie Murphy Induction Ceremony 10 a.m. July 13 in Alexander Hall, located at 29805 Chamberlain Ave. Anyone wishing to attend is cordially invited to witness the induction of an elite few into this prestigious organization.

Create with Me

ACS is hosting a “create with me” series of workshops with the Morris Museum of Art in Downtown Augusta. These workshops help kids become interested in the amazing world of art and creation. Back to School Blast

Street. Horse Riding

Hilltop Riding Stables has a Horse Camp through Aug. 3. Young equestrians will learn how to care for and ride horses, as well as, anatomy, health and more. Change of Command

The 116th Military Intelligence Brigade will hold a change-of-command ceremony 9 a.m. Aug. 10 at the Barton Field for outgoing Col. Daniel Mettling and incoming Col. Ernesto Cortez. Inclement weather location is Alexander Hall.

The 480th Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance Group will hold a change-of-command ceremony on Aug. 15 at 9:30 a.m. at Alexander Hall for outgoing Colonel Mark Mitchem and incoming Colonel Abraham Jackson.

Kids Bowl Free

Kids Bowl Free is happening at Gordon Lanes Bowling Center. Children in ages 3 to 15 can bowl up to 2 free games from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. every Monday through Thursday. Parents Night Out

Have a night out on the town or watch a movie in a quiet home. Child & Youth Services offers Parents Night Out on select dates each month from 6:30 to 11:30 p.m. Children 6 weeks to 17 years must be registered with CYS to participate. Gardening Club

Get your green thumb on point at the Fort Gordon Community Garden Gardening Club. The club meets the fourth Thursday of every month and covers various topics and techniques for expanding and preserving a harvest. Join them at the Woodworth Library across from Barton Field. Knitting Circle

Join the Knitting Circle every Saturday at the Woodworth Consolidated Library from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Learn new knitting patterns, tricks to get that perfect purl and make new friends in the process. For more information and to register, call (706)791-7323.

New Parent Support

Morale Call

Join us for food and fun at Heroes Sports Bar inside Gordon Lanes Bowling Center. Morale Call is every month on the third Friday. There will be delicious finger foods from our very own Kegler’s Cafe, as well as live music from DJ Tony Howard. Breastfeeding Support

Horse stable volunteers

Sign up for the Hilltop Riding Stables volunteer class. This will teach you what you need to begin volunteering at the stables and the skills to care for horses. The class will be held Saturdays and Sundays and is open to ages 14 and older. For more information or to sign up, call (706)791-4864.

Auto classes

Free automotive care classes are available to all military, retirees, spouses, family members and DoD civilians. Dependents must be age 16 and older. Classes are on an introductory level and are intended to familiarize individuals with various car problems such as brake and tire inspection, AC system and other common problems. Ladies golf
