Kid’s Fishing Derby

Get your little fishers to the Kid’s Fishing Derby on Saturday at the Claypit Lakes. There will be lunch available for the kids and prizes for highest weight of fish. For more information, call (706)791-5078.

SFAB Recruiting Visit

There will be a Security Force Assistance Brigade Recruiting Team visiting Fort Gordon on Wednesday and Thursday to assess Soldiers for more than 60 MOSs and 20 career fields. Interested Soldiers are encouraged to attend the information briefs in order to meet with the SFAB Recruiting Team to discuss eligibility requirements and learn more. There will be three briefs each day: June 6 at 10 a.m., 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. and June 7 at 8 a.m., noon and 3 p.m. at the Signal Theater. For more information, contact (910) 570-9975.

Theatre Camp

Daddy n’ Me

Kids Golf

Gordon Lakes has Junior Golf Instruction available for a limited time. Sign up players by May 30 for one of two 75-minute sessions of golf instruction for juniors. First session each week is from 8:30 - 9:45 a.m. for 6- to 10-year-olds. The second session each week is from 10 to 11:15 a.m. for 11- to 15-year-olds. Horse Riding

Hilltop Riding Stables has a Horse Camp May 29 through Aug. 3. Young equestrians will learn how to care for and ride horses, as well as, anatomy, health and more. Change of Responsibility

The 782nd Military Intelligence Battalion will host a change-of-responsibility ceremony 9 a.m. June 18 at Barton Field for outgoing Command Sgt. Maj. Bart Larango and Incoming Command Sgt. Maj. James Krog. Inclement weather location is Signal Theater.

Change of Command

The 67th Expeditionary Signal Battalion will hold a change of command ceremony at 9 a.m. June 22 in front of Saltzman Hall and Allen Hall. Lt. Col. Kathleen S. Cage will relinquish command to Lt. Col. Trey O. Matchin. If inclement weather, ceremony will move into the Cyber Fitness Center.

The 15th Regimental Signal Brigade will host a change-of-command ceremony 8 a.m. June 22 at Barton Field for outgoing Col. Daniel Ruder and incoming Col. John T. Baston presided by Maj. Gen. John B. Morrison Jr., U.S. Army Cyber Center of Excellence commanding general. Inclement weather location is Alexander Hall.

Change of Responsibility

The 2nd Cyber Protection Battalion will host a change-of-responsibility ceremony 8 a.m. June 26 at Alexander Hall for outgoing Master Sgt. Kevin Flickinger and incoming Sgt. Maj. Jeremy Lerette presided by Lt. Col. Javier Madrigal, 2nd Cyber Pro. Bn. commander.

Back to School Blast

A Back to School Blast is scheduled for 10 a.m. July 27 at the Army Reserve Center, Bldg. 14401, located at 15th Street and Lane Avenue. The Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation partnered with Operation Homefront to distribute backpacks and school supplies for eligible families of active duty Servicemembers in the pay grade of E-1-E-6, any Post 9/11 wounded warriors, and National Guard or Reservists on Title 10 Federal Orders.

Parents Night Out

Have a night out on the town or watch a movie in a quiet home. Child & Youth Services offers Parents Night Out on select dates each month from 6:30 to 11:30 p.m. Children 6 weeks to 17 years must be registered with CYS to participate. Gardening Club

Get your green thumb on point at the Fort Gordon Community Garden Gardening Club. The club meets the fourth Thursday of every month and covers various topics and techniques for expanding and preserving a harvest. Join them at the Woodworth Library across from Barton Field. Knitting Circle

Join the Knitting Circle every Saturday at the Woodworth Consolidated Library from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Learn new knitting patterns, tricks to get that perfect purl and make new friends in the process. For more information and to register, call (706)791-0396/4674.

New Parent Support

Join New Parent Support for different fun and family-centered activities. This event is open to families with children 0-4 years old (older siblings welcome). New Parent Support has Prenatal and Postpartum Yoga groups. For more information on dates and times, call (706)791-5220.

Morale Call

Join us for food and fun at Heroes Sports Bar inside Gordon Lanes Bowling Center. Morale Call is every month on the third Friday. There will be delicious finger foods from our very own Kegler’s Cafe, as well as live music from DJ Tony Howard. Breastfeeding Support

Horse stable volunteers

Sign up for the Hilltop Riding Stables volunteer class. This will teach you what you need to begin volunteering at the stables and the skills to care for horses. The class will be held Saturdays and Sundays and is open to ages 14 and older. For more information or to sign up, call (706)791-4864.
