HEROES BEHIND THE SCENES RECOGNIZED AT CEREMONY

Bill Bengtson / Fort Gordon Public Affairs Office Bill Bengtson / Fort Gordon Public Affairs Office Dozens of volunteers representing various local organizations gathered May 6 at Fort Gordon Dinner Theatre and were offered a message of thanks from some installation senior leaders. The event, “Heroes behind the scenes,” acknowledged tens of thousands of contributed hours over the past year and years before, in many cases. The event also included Sunday dinner (a buffet) and a chance to attend a matinee performance of “Nana’s Naughty Knickers,” the acting company’s current offering.

Maj. Gen. John B. Morrison Jr., commanding general, Cyber Center of Excellence and Fort Gordon, addresses Sunday afternoon’s gathering at the Fort Gordon Dinner Theatre, in a program to express thanks to (and for) dozens of the installation’s top volunteers from the past year and years past. Grovetown resident Joan Stewart, a longtime volunteer in the Fort Gordon Thrift Shop, sparks a laugh from Col. Todd Turner, left, garrison commander and Command Sgt. Maj. Charlie Bryant, garrison command sergeant major, during a Sunday program to honor dozens of Fort Gordon’s most exemplary volunteers.
