Tax center

The Fort Gordon Tax Center is open for business. The tax center provides free preparation and filing of State and Federal income tax for active duty Servicemembers, retirees, and dependents with a DoD ID card. Hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Wednesday 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Call (706)787-1040/1044 to make an appointment.

Days of Remembrance

The Days of Remembrance Command Program will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Alexander Hall. “Learning from the Holocaust: Conscience and Action” is the theme this year and Hershel Greenblat, a Holocaust survivor, will be the guest speaker for the ceremony hosted by the 706th Military Intelligence Group.

Spouse Boot Camp

Grab a battle buddy and head to boot camp, April 12-13, just for spouses. Learn everything that is needed to know as the spouse of a Servicemember. For more information, call (706)791-1053.

Paint Party

Join in for a night of drinks and drips at the April Paint Party! April 13 at Hilltop Riding Stables. Pre-registration required by Wednesday, cost is $35 per person and includes all supplies, light appetizers and beverages. Patrons 21 & older are welcome to BYOB at this event. Military Child Splash, Dash

The fifth annual Fort Gordon Military Child Splash and Dash, April 14, is a swim and fun event designed to introduce youth to the fun and exciting multisport world all while in a safe atmosphere. This event has pre-registration at www.fortgordonrunseries.com. Race packet pick-up is April 13 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Indoor Pool.

Army Reserve birthday

The U.S. Army Reserve will be celebrating 110 years of service to the Army and the nation during a ceremony April 20 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Alexander Hall hosted by the U.S. Army Cyber Center of Excellence Reserve Component Affairs Office. Parent Expo

Calling all Fort Gordon affiliated parents, come and connect with local vendors with helpful resources for parents at the Parent Expo Carnival, April 20. There will be carnival-themed, kid-friendly activities, parenting resources and giveaways. For more information, call (706)791-5220.

Spring Flea Market

Pageant & Talent Show

The Sergeant Audie Murphy Association is hosting their inaugural Pageant & Talent Show from noon to 4 p.m. April 28 at the Liberty Park Community Center in Grovetown. The event is for boys and girls aged newborn to 13 years old. Children will compete in four separate age groups. 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prizes will be awarded in each age group. Job Fair

The Georgia Department of Labor, Fort Gordon, the Augusta Career Center and the Soldiers for Life- TAP Transition Center on Fort Gordon will host the annual Veterans’ Job Fair, May 1 from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The event will be held at the Fort Gordon Army Reserve Center, Bldg. 14401, located at the corner of Lane Avenue and 15th Street. Seventy-five local, state, and national employers will participate. Job seekers should bring copies of their resume and should dress for success. The job fair is open to the public. Superhero Bash

Dust off your utility belts, capes and cowls; the Mother and Son Superhero Bash is May 5. Take part in a night centered on the bond between a mother and her son. Mud Challenge

The 2018 Marine Mud Challenge is scheduled for May 12. The Marine Mud Challenge is a team event, with five categories: competitive male, competitive female, competitive coed, competitive hard corps and noncompetitive. All who preregistered will receive a T-shirt and a Marine Mud Challenge race bag, and those who complete the course will be rewarded with a medal. Horse Riding

Hilltop Riding Stables has a Horse Camp May 29 through Aug. 3. Young equestrians will learn how to care for and ride horses, as well as, anatomy, health and more. Gardening Club

Get your green thumb on point at the Fort Gordon Community Garden Gardening Club. The club meets the fourth Thursday of every month and covers various topics and techniques for expanding and preserving a harvest. Join them at the Woodworth Library across from Barton Field. Knitting Circle

Join the Knitting Circle every Saturday at the Woodworth Consolidated Library from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Learn new knitting patterns, tricks to get that perfect purl and make new friends in the process. For more information and to register, call (706)791-0396/4674.

Parents Night Out

Have a night out on the town or watch a movie in a quiet home. Child & Youth Services offers Parents Night Out on select dates each month from 6:30 to 11:30 p.m. Children 6 weeks to 17 years must be registered with CYS to participate. New Parent Support

Join New Parent Support for different fun and family-centered activities. This event is open to families with children 0-4 years old (older siblings welcome). New Parent Support has Prenatal and Postpartum Yoga groups. For more information on dates and times, call (706)791-5220.

Create with Me

The ACS “Create with Me” program is a partnership with the Morris Museum of Art to help encourage and introduce children to the arts. To attend, call (706)791- 5220 for dates and times.

Morale Call

Join us for food and fun at Heroes Sports Bar inside Gordon Lanes Bowling Center. Morale Call is every month on the third Friday. There will be delicious finger foods from our very own Kegler’s Cafe, as well as live music from DJ Tony Howard. Breastfeeding Support

Come meet other mothers and learn new techniques, tips and tricks as well as just to have fun with your baby. The group meets every third Tuesday from 1 to 3 p.m. For more information, call (706)791-5220.

Survivor Outreach Services

Join Survivor Outreach Services every third Wednesday for lunch. Gather with other SOS members and enjoy socialization. To RSVP, call (706)791-9483.

Horse stable volunteers

Sign up for the Hilltop Riding Stables volunteer class. This will teach you what you need to begin volunteering at the stables and the skills to care for horses. The class will be held Saturdays and Sundays and is open to ages 14 and older. For more information or to sign up, call (706)791-4864.

Auto classes

Free automotive care classes are available to all military, retirees, spouses, family members and DoD civilians. Dependents must be age 16 and older. Classes are on an introductory level and are intended to familiarize individuals with various car problems such as brake and tire inspection, AC system and other common problems.
