Tax center

The Fort Gordon Tax Center is open for business. The tax center provides free preparation and filing of State and Federal income tax for active duty Servicemembers, retirees, and dependents with a DoD ID card. During the 2017 tax season, more than 4,500 members of the Fort Gordon community used tax preparations at the Fort Gordon Tax Center, resulting in more than $5,093,604 in refunds and an estimated savings of $654,952 in tax return preparation fees. The Tax Center hours are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Call (706)787-1040/1044 to make an appointment.

Hooked on golf

Register for the “Hook a Service Member” program through Gordon Lakes Golf Club. The PGA instructor will be on the driving range providing lessons to include: full swing, pitching, chipping, putting and rules. There is limited space, so register before Thursday. Program is open to active-duty, Reservists and retired Servicemembers only. Cost per session is $10 and includes clubs (if needed) and range balls. For more information, call (706)791-2433.

Gardening Club

Get your green thumb on point at the Fort Gordon Community Garden Gardening Club. The club meets the fourth Thursday of every month and covers various topics and techniques for expanding and preserving a harvest. Join them at the Woodworth Library across from Barton Field. Big Bang Variety

The Amazing Jonathan Presents Big Bang Variety show, March 9 at the Fort Gordon Dinner Theatre, which features comedians, acrobats, contortionists and magicians. Price is $23 for auditorium seating and $28 for table seating. For more information or tickets, please call (706)793-8552.

Saint Patrick’s 5K

Over the river and through the woods we go to the Fort Gordon Saint Patrick’s 5K, March 10. This 5K is a timed fun run that will orientate through the Fort Gordon Disc Golf Course and is considered a trail run. Registration is online at for the 5K or Geocaching walk at www.fortgordonrunseries.com.

New Parent Support

Join New Parent Support for different fun and family-centered activities. This event is open to families with children 0-4 years old (older siblings welcome). New Parent Support has Prenatal and Postpartum Yoga groups. For more information on dates and times, call (706)791-5220.

Create with Me

The ACS “Create with Me” program is a partnership with the Morris Museum of Art to help encourage and introduce children to the arts. To attend, call (706)791- 5220 for dates and times.

Hiring Fair

Bring multiple copies of your Resume to the Hiring Fair, March 13. Kickball Tournament

Horse Riding

Hilltop Riding Stables has Horse Camps April 2-6 and May 29 – Aug. 3. Young equestrians will learn how to care for and ride horses, as well as, anatomy, health and more. Spouse Boot Camp

Homebuyer Seminars

The Housing Services Office is hosting four days of Homebuyer Education Seminars from March 19- 22 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Darling Hall. Lunch will be served daily. Golf Tourney

OCS Alumni Reunion

The U.S. Army Officer Candidate School Alumni Association Reunion will be conducted March 25-29 in Columbus, Ga. The OCS continues to serve as a principal venue for officer accessions for the Army. Graduates include more than 40 Medal of Honor recipients. Mini-class reunions are also being encouraged. The reunion will include a Hall of Fame induction ceremony, reception, and formal dinner including the presentation of the Patterson Award. The reunion will be conducted at the Columbus Marriott Hotel, 800 Front Avenue, Columbus, Ga. 31901. Job Fair

The Georgia Department of Labor, Fort Gordon, the Augusta Career Center and the Soldiers for Life-TAP Transition Center on Fort Gordon will host the annual Veterans’ Job Fair, May 1 from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The event will be held at the Fort Gordon Army Reserve Center, Bldg. 14401, located at the corner of Lane Avenue and 15th Street. Seventy-five local, state, and national employers will participate. Job seekers should bring copies of their resume and should dress for success. The job fair is open to the public. Morale Call

Join us for food and fun at Heroes Sports Bar inside Gordon Lanes Bowling Center. Morale Call is every month on the third Friday. There will be delicious finger foods from our very own Kegler’s Cafe, as well as live music from DJ Tony Howard. Breastfeeding Support

eCyberMission challenge

The 16th annual eCyberMission challenge for 6th through 9th graders is underway. The Army Educational Outreach Program sponsored competition focuses on science, technology, engineering and math problems involving energy, environment, food, robotics, security, and technology. Teams of three or four members, guided by an adviser, pick a challenge, do research, conduct experiments and find a solution. There are state and national awards, with a top prize of $5,000 for each member of the winning team. A mission solution due by Feb. 28. Judging starts in March and ends in June.
