Black History Month

The U.S. Army Cyber Center of Excellence and Fort Gordon will honor Black History Month with a command program Thursday at 10:15 a.m. in Alexander Hall. Guest speaker will be Manford Pryear, business manager of South Augusta Soldiers Motorcycle Club. All are encouraged to attend.

Pheasant Hunt

Bag a bird at the Tactical Advantage Sportsman’s Complex during a Pheasant Hunt starting at 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. today. Children 15 and under are free if they have a Hunter Education Card, all others $75 per person. Register by Thursday, and by March 1 for the March 3 Pheasant Hunt. BOSS Super Bowl

Financial Readiness Class

The Army Community Service is hosting a Financial Readiness Banking and Checking Accounts class Wednesday 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the MWR Computer Lab at Bldg.28320 along Lane Ave. The focus is to help those new to banking and those experienced. Couples Painting

Join the Paint Me Pretty painting party Friday at 6:30 p.m. in the Hilltop Riding Stables. Register for $50 each by Wednesday. Sweethearts and friends can take part. Dr. Seuss 5K

Join the Dr. Seuss on the Loose Run Feb. 10 starting at 9 a.m. for athletes near Signal Towers on Chamberlain Ave. Check-in begins at 7:30 a.m. The family fun event will include a kids story time area with special guests, inflatables, and pint-sized obstacle course. Tax center

The Fort Gordon Tax Center is open for business on Monday. The Fort Gordon Tax Center provides free preparation and filing of State and Federal income tax for active duty Servicemembers, retirees, and dependents with a DoD ID card. During the 2017 tax season, more than 4,500 members of the Fort Gordon community used tax preparations at the Fort Gordon Tax Center, resulting in more than $5,093,604 in refunds and an estimated savings of $654,952 in tax return preparation fees. The Tax Center hours are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Call (706) 787-1040/1044 to make an appointment.


Dinner Theatre

OCS Alumni Reunion

The U.S. Army Officer Candidate School Alumni Association Reunion will be conducted March 25-29 in Columbus, Ga. The OCS continues to serve as a principal venue for officer accessions for the Army. Graduates include more than 40 Medal of Honor recipients. Mini-class reunions are also being encouraged. The reunion will include a Hall of Fame induction ceremony, reception, and formal dinner including the presentation of the Patterson Award. The reunion will be conducted at the Columbus Marriott Hotel, 800 Front Avenue, Columbus, Ga. 31901. Morale Call

Join us for food and fun at Heroes Sports Bar inside Gordon Lanes Bowling Center. Morale Call is every month on the third Friday. eCyberMission challenge

The 16th annual eCyberMission challenge for 6th through 9th graders is underway. The Army Educational Outreach Program sponsored competition focuses on science, technology, engineering and math problems involving energy, environment, food, robotics, security and technology. Teams of three or four members, guided by an adviser, pick a challenge, do research, conduct experiments and find a solution. There are state and national awards, with a top prize of $5,000 for each member of the winning team. A mission solution due by Feb. 28. Judging starts in March and ends in June. Parents Night Out

Take an evening off for Parents’ Night Out. Child and Youth Services is offering to watch the kids during a parents’ night out for select dates each month from 6:30 to 11:30 p.m. Children who are six weeks to 12 years old, who are registered with CYS can participate. Horse stable volunteers

Sign up for the Hilltop Riding Stables volunteer class. This will teach you what you need to begin volunteering at the stables and the skills to care for horses. The class will be held Saturdays and Sundays and is open to ages 14 and older. For more information or to sign up, call (706)791-4864.
