AMEDD Recruiting

The Fort Gordon Education Center in conjunction with U.S. Army Healthcare Recruiting have scheduled an Army Medical Department Enlisted Commissioning Program Fiscal Year 2018 Information and Application Guides Briefing on Wednesday and Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The briefing will be conducted at the Fort Gordon Army Education Center, Consolidated Conference Center, 271 Heritage Park Lane, Room 201, Bldg. 35200. The AMEDD Enlisted Commissioning Program provides eligible active duty, Reserve, National Guard or AGR Army Soldiers the opportunity to complete their required formal medical program education and receive a commission. Tax center

The Fort Gordon Tax Center will open its doors after a ribbon cutting ceremony Jan. 29, at Room 224 in Darling Hall. The Fort Gordon Tax Center provides free preparation and filing of State and Federal income tax for active duty Servicemembers, retirees, and dependents with a DoD ID card. During the 2017 tax season, more than 4,500 members of the Fort Gordon community used tax preparation services at the Fort Gordon Tax Center, resulting in more than $5,093,604 in refunds and an estimated savings of $654,952 in tax return preparation fees.

Dinner Theatre

Plan a romantic date night for Valentine’s Day to The Fort Gordon Dinner Theatre, to see “The Last Romance.”

OCS Alumni Reunion

The U.S. Army Officer Candidate School Alumni Association Reunion will be conducted March 25-29 in Columbus, Ga. The OCS continues to serve as a principal venue for officer accessions for the Army. Graduates include more than 40 Medal of Honor recipients. Mini-class reunions are also being encouraged. The reunion will include a Hall of Fame induction ceremony, reception, and formal dinner including the presentation of the Patterson Award. The reunion will be conducted at the Columbus Marriott Hotel, 800 Front Avenue, Columbus, Ga. 31901. Morale Call

Join us for food and fun at Heroes Sports Bar inside Gordon Lanes Bowling Center. Morale Call is every month on the third Friday. There will be delicious finger foods from our very own Kegler’s Cafe, as well as live music from DJ Tony Howard. Breastfeeding Support

Parenting Academy

Looking to sharpen your parenting skills and have a great relationship with your children? Fort Gordon Army Community Service, Family Advocacy Program presents, The Parenting Academy, a series of 10 workshops covering different aspects of raising children. Lead by Ashley Quamme, licensed marriage and family therapist. The next session is Tuesday and the discussion will be how to help your child when they are struggling. eCyberMission challenge

The 16th annual eCyberMission challenge for 6th through 9th graders is underway. The Army Educational Outreach Program sponsored competition focuses on science, technology, engineering and math problems involving energy, environment, food, robotics, security and technology. Teams of three or four members, guided by an adviser, pick a challenge, do research, conduct experiments and find a solution. There are state and national awards, with a top prize of $5,000 for each member of the winning team. A mission solution due by Feb. 28. Judging starts in March and ends in June. Parents Night Out

Take an evening off for Parents’ Night Out. Child and Youth Services is offering to watch the kids during a parents’ night out for select dates each month from 6:30 to 11:30 p.m. Children who are six weeks to 12 years old, who are registered with CYS can participate. Horse stable volunteers

Sign up for the Hilltop Riding Stables volunteer class. This will teach you what you need to begin volunteering at the stables and the skills to care for horses. The class will be held Saturdays and Sundays and is open to ages 14 and older. For more information or to sign up, call (706)791-4864.

U-DO-IT store

The U-DO-IT Store is located at the Brems Barracks area in Building 40101. Customer service hours are Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., excluding federal holidays. The store stocks parts and materials necessary for units and activities to complete minor maintenance and repair of their assigned facilities. To receive items from the store, individuals must successfully complete the U-DO-IT training course conducted the first Wednesday of each month beginning at 8 a.m. and listed on DA Form 1687 (Notice of Delegation of Authority-Receipt for Supplies). The class is conducted on a walk-in basis with no prior registration required. U-DO-IT representatives can be reached at (706)791-3942/7683.

Ladies golf

Auto classes

Free automotive care classes are available to all military, retirees, spouses, family members and DoD civilians. Dependents must be age 16 and older. Classes are on an introductory level and are intended to familiarize individuals with various car problems such as brake and tire inspection, AC system and other common problems. Garden Club

Join the Garden Club and show off your green thumb or learn some new tips and tricks to use in your own little plot. Club meetings are every third Thursday of the month at the Woodworth Consolidated Library from 5 to 6 p.m. Topics cover everything from planning your garden to keeping the pests off your produce and how to preserve your harvest.
