Open season

The open season is through today and includes an invitation for each NAF employee to visit their Human Resource Office to update their personal information and beneficiaries and to make adjustments to their benefit plans to protect their families. CrossFit Fort Gordon is set to host the Garage Games. WOD with the Troops is a two-day event being held at Fort Gordon today and Saturday. Individuals and Teams will battle their way through three WODs to see who will be crowned champion. This competition is open to the public. For more information, call (706)791-2864. Paint Me Pretty

18th Annual Augusta Toy Run

Join the Fort Gordon Christmas House during the 18th Annual Augusta Toy Run held Sunday at the Southeastern Paralyzed Veterans of America, located at 4010 Deans Bridge Road, Hephzibah, Ga. Riders should arrive between 2 and 3:30 p.m. from their own starting destination. Please bring an unwrapped toy for children ranging from newborn to 16 years old or donation. Army – Navy Game

Come show support for the annual Army vs Navy football game scheduled 9 a.m., Dec. 9 at the CYS Sports Complex. Activities include a game between the JROTCs for both Lakeside and Greenbrier high schools. A second game will feature the active duty Servicemembers for the Army and the Navy. SOS Remembrance Ceremony

Join us in honoring those who have made the greatest sacrifice at our Survivor Outreach Service’s Holiday Remembrance Ceremony. Tax center

The Fort Gordon Tax Center will open its doors after a ribbon cutting ceremony Jan. 29 at Room 224 in Darling Hall. The Fort Gordon Tax Center provides free preparation and filing of State and Federal income tax for active duty Servicemembers, Retirees, and dependents with a DoD ID card. During the 2017 tax season, more than 4,500 members of the Fort Gordon community utilized tax preparation services at the Fort Gordon Tax Center, resulting in more than $5,093,604.00 in refunds and an estimated savings of $654,952.00 in tax return preparation fees.

Parenting Academy

Looking to sharpen your parenting skills and have a great relationship with your children? Fort Gordon Army Community Service, Family Advocacy Program presents, The Parenting Academy, a series of 10 workshops covering different aspects of raising children. Lead by Ashley Quamme, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. The next session is Tuesday and the discussion will be how to help your child when they are struggling. eCyberMission challenge

The 16th annual eCyberMission challenge for 6th through 9th graders is underway. The Army Educational Outreach Program sponsored competition focuses on science, technology, engineering and math problems involving energy, environment, food, robotics, security and technology. Teams of three or four members, guided by an adviser, pick a challenge, do research, conduct experiments and find a solution. There are state and national awards, with a top prize of $5,000 for each member of the winning team. Registration is open through Dec. 13, with a mission solution due by Feb. 28, 2018. Parents Night Out

Take an evening off for Parents’ Night Out. Child and Youth Services is offering to watch the kids during a parents’ night out for select dates each month from 6:30 to 11:30 p.m. Children who are six weeks to 12 years old, who are registered with CYS can participate. Horse stable volunteers

Sign up for the Hilltop Riding Stables volunteer class. This will teach you what you need to begin volunteering at the stables and the skills to care for horses. The class will be held Saturdays and Sundays and is open to ages 14 and older. For more information or to sign up, call (706)791-4864.

Garden Club

Join the Garden Club and show off your green thumb or learn some new tips and tricks to use in your own little plot. Club meetings are every third Thursday of the month at the Woodworth Consolidated Library from 5 to 6 p.m. Topics cover everything from planning your garden to keeping the pests off your produce and how to preserve your harvest. U-DO-IT store

The U-DO-IT Store is located at the Brems Barracks area in building 40101. Customer service hours are Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., excluding federal holidays. The store stocks parts and materials necessary for units and activities to complete minor maintenance and repair of their assigned facilities. To receive items from the store, individuals must successfully complete the U-DO-IT training course conducted the first Wednesday of each month beginning at 8 a.m. and listed on DA Form 1687 (Notice of Delegation of Authority-Receipt for Supplies). The class is conducted on a walk-in basis with no prior registration required. U-DO-IT representatives can be reached at (706)791-3942/7683.

Ladies golf

Auto classes

Free automotive care classes are available to all military, retirees, spouses, family members and DoD civilians. Dependents must be age 16 and older. Classes are on an introductory level and are intended to familiarize individuals with various car problems such as brake and tire inspection, AC system and other common problems.
