School Screenings

School screenings for children entering Georgia public schools for the first time are avail- able 8 a. m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center. This is not sports physicals, which can be separately scheduled with primary care managers. To schedule a 4-point screening during one of the allotted time slots, call (706)787-7300 7 a.m. through 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Patients must be eligible for care at DDEAMC and enrolled in DEERS one week prior to screening. Bring an ID card or current proof of DEERS registration, eye glasses, hearing aids, immunization record, medical power of attorney and medical records (if not at DDEAMC) to the appointment. Dinner Theatre

The Dinner Theatre production of “Don’t Dress for Dinner” is scheduled to run today and Saturday with a show time 7 to 10:30 p.m. Tickets are $53 for civilians; $50 for and seniors older than 65, military retirees, Department of the Army civilians, service members above E-7; $40 for service members E-6 and below, students with school ID. TechNet transportation

The Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association is providing bus transportation to the AFCEA TechNet Augusta held Aug. 7-10. The two bus stop locations on Fort Gordon are at Signal Towers, Bldg. 29808, and Heritage Park near the Command Support Center, Bldg. 35200, located at the corner of 35th Avenue and Avenue of the States. Buses are scheduled to run on a continuous loop between Fort Gordon and the convention center downtown. Schedule hours are Monday 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Tuesday 6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesday 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Thursday 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Tunnel to Towers 5K

Softball Tournament

Fort Gordon and Diamond Lakes are hosting the USSSA Military Worlds Softball Tournament for the second year. Team categories include Varsity A & B, Intramurals, Women’s, Co-Ed and Over-40. Cub Scouts

The Boy Scouts of America’s Georgia-Carolina Council announced this week that all boys who register to become new members of Cub Scout Pack 345 in Fort Gordon will receive a free Cub Scout Pack 345 will hold a joining event at 5 p.m. on Monday at Freedom Park School for families interested in learning more about one of America’s leading values-driven organizations For more information, call (706) 733-5277.

Father Daughter Dance

Parents Night Out

Take an evening off for Parents’ Night Out. Child and Youth Services is offering to watch the kids during a parents’ night out for select dates each month 6:30 to 11:30 p.m. Six-week to 12-year-old children who are registered with CYS can participate. Garden Club

Join the Garden Club and show off your green thumb or learn some new tips and tricks to use in your own little plot of heaven. Club meetings are every third Thursday of the month at the Woodworth Consolidated Library from 5-6 p.m. Topics cover everything from planning your garden to keeping the pests off your produce and how to preserve your harvest. Horse stable volunteers

Sign up for the Hilltop Riding Stables volunteer class. This will teach you all you need to begin volunteering at the stables and the skills to care for horses. The class will be held Saturdays and Sundays and is open to ages 14 and up. For more information or to sign up, call (706)791-4864.

U-DO-IT store

The U-DO-IT Store is located at the Brems Barracks area in building 40101. Customer service hours are Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., excluding federal holidays. The store stocks parts and materials necessary for units and activities to complete minor maintenance and repair of their assigned facilities. To receive items from the store, individuals must have successfully completed the U-DO-IT training course that is conducted the first Wednesday of each month beginning at 8 a.m. and listed on DA Form 1687 ( Notice of Delegation of Authority-Receipt for Supplies). The class is conducted on a walk in basis with no prior registration required. U-DO-IT representatives can be reached at (706)791-3942/7683.

Auto classes

Free automotive care classes are available to all military, retirees, spouses, family members and DOD civilians. Dependents must be age 16 and older. Classes are on an introductory level and are intended to familiarize individuals with various car problems such as brake and tire inspection, AC system and other common problems. Ladies golf
