Indoor Pool closed

The Indoor Pool is closed for renovation through July 2017. The Outdoor Pool will open for lap swimming beginning in May at 5:30 a.m. For questions, call (706)791-8053.

Employer Panel

Employment Readiness is looking for some military spouse (volunteers) who would like to participate on an employer panel with keynote speakers, June 21 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. One of the requirement is that they would prefer a spouse who has been employed within the last year. If interested in the opportunity to provide effective feedback on employment trends and opportunities, this is a great chance. Those interested should contact Crystal Cochran at (706)791-0795, by the end of April so that we can provide additional information. I will need a firm commitment as the panel includes many key leaders.

Dinner Theatre

Basketball Shootout

Marriage enrichment series

The Army Community Services Marriage and Relationship Enrichment Seminar Series continues Thursday. Topics covered are: How to prepare yourself and your family for a deployment and how to navigate deployments with ease, no matter what comes your way. Garden Club

Join the Garden Club and show off your green thumb or learn some new tips and tricks to use in your own little plot of heaven. Club Meetings are every third Thursday of the month at the Woodworth Consolidated Library, 5-6 p.m. Topics cover everything from planning your garden to keeping the pests off your produce and how to preserve your harvest. The observance for the Asian Pacific American Heritage month command program sponsored by the 35th Theater Tactical Signal Brigade is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Alexander Hall.

Parenting Academy

Fort Gord on Army Community Service, Family Advocacy Program and New Parent Support presents a series of workshops held 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesdays covering different aspects of raising children. This amazing opportunity is led by Elizabeth Estey, a parenting expert with Life Management Group, Inc. Dress for the job

The Fort Gordon Employment Readiness Program will be hosting a Fashion Show of what to wear and what not to wear work attire in conjunction with the Military Spouse Appreciation events today. This event will be held during the day. If you are a working spouse you must make a firm commitment to ERP. You must provide your own clothes and they must be approved before the week of the event. Run to Honor set

The Run to Honor is a Fort Gordon tradition where runners and walkers honor special people in their lives, their heroes or have made special sacrifices. You can participate in this event on May 20, and honor the special ones in your life. This event is coupled with the Annual Army 10-Miler Qualifier. For more information call (706)791-1142.

Victory Crossfit event

Homebuyer seminar

The Housing Services Office is hosting four days of Homebuyer Education Seminars from May 22-25 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. at Darling Hall. Lunch will be served daily. Classes are based on attendance so should RSVP their interest in attending no later than May 15. Outdoor Pool opens

The Outdoor Pool and Spray Park opens May 26 and will remain open through Sept. 4. It will only be open on weekends after Aug. 6. Daily rates of $4 per person, season passes and multi-visit punch cards are available. For more information call (706)791-8053/3034.

Transition Summit

The National Transition Summit is scheduled for June 21-22. The purpose of the event is to bring National, local business leaders, Veterans Administration, Department of Labor and Soldier for Life Programs to one location in an effort to provide employment strategies and potential employment prospects for transitioning service members, family members, retirees and veterans. The Transition Summits are also designed to educate employer recruiters and community leaders on best practices in hiring and retaining military employees, while also helping service members and military spouses prepare for the civilian workforce. Attendees will be invited to participate in a series of town hall-style panel discussions, networking receptions, employment workshops, and a capstone Hiring Our Heroes job fair. U-DO-IT store

The U-DO-IT Store is located at the Brems Barracks area in building 40101. Customer service hours are Monday through Friday 7:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. excluding federal holidays. The store stocks parts and materials necessary for units and activities to complete minor maintenance and repair of their assigned facilities. To receive items from the store, individuals must have successfully completed the U-DO-IT training course that is conducted the first Wednesday of each month beginning at 8 a.m. and listed on DA Form 1687 ( Notice of Delegation of Authority-Receipt for Supplies). The class is conducted on a walk-iin basis with no prior registration required. U-DO-IT representatives can be reached at (706)791-3942/7683.

Ladies Golf

Auto Classes

Free automotive care classes are available to all military, retirees, spouses, family members and DoD civilians. Dependents must be age 16 and older. Classes are on an introductory level and are intended to familiarize individuals with various car problems such as brake and tire inspection, AC system and other common problems. Horse Stable volunteers

Sign up for the Hilltop Riding Stables volunteer class. This will teach you all you need to begin volunteering at the stables and the skills to care for horses. The class will be held Saturdays and Sundays and is open to ages 14 and up. For more information or to sign up, call (706)791-4864.


Thunder Over Evans

Thunder Over Evans is scheduled for May 20 at the Evans Towne Center to celebrate Armed Forces Day from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. at Admission is free. Various activities and performances are soon to be announced.
