Kid’s Splash and Dash

Employment Readiness is looking for some military spouse (volunteers) who would like to participate on an employer panel with keynote speakers, June 21 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. One of the requirement is that they would prefer a spouse who has been employed within the last year. If interested in the opportunity to provide effective feedback on employment trends and opportunities, this is a great chance. The Georgia Department of Labor, Fort Gordon, the Augusta Career Center and the Soldiers for Life-TAP Transition Center on Fort Gordon will host the annual Veterans’ Job Fair, May 2 from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The event will be held at the Fort Gordon Army Reserve Center, Bldg. 14401, located at the corner of Lane Avenue and 15th Street. Dress for the job
The Fort Gordon Employment Readiness Program will be hosting a Fashion Show of what to wear and what not to wear work attire in conjunction with the Military Spouse Appreciation events May 12. The National Transition Summit is scheduled for June 21-22. The purpose of the event is to bring National, local business leaders, Veterans Administration, Department of Labor and Soldier for Life Programs to one location in an effort to provide employment strategies and potential employment prospects for transitioning service members, family members, retirees and veterans. The Transition Summits are also designed to educate employer recruiters and community leaders on best practices in hiring and retaining military employees, while also helping service members and military spouses prepare for the civilian workforce. Attendees will be invited to participate in a series of town hall-style panel discussions, networking receptions, employment workshops, and a capstone Hiring Our Heroes job fair. The U-DO-IT Store is located at the Brems Barracks area in building 40101. Customer service hours are Monday through Friday 7:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. excluding federal holidays. The store stocks parts and materials necessary for units and activities to complete minor maintenance and repair of their assigned facilities. To receive items from the store, individuals must have successfully completed the U-DO-IT training course that is conducted the first Wednesday of each month beginning at 8 a.m. and listed on DA Form 1687 (Notice of Delegation of Authority-Receipt for Supplies). Free automotive care classes are available to all military, retirees, spouses, family members and DoD civilians. Dependents must be age 16 and older. Classes are on an introductory level and are intended to familiarize individuals with various car problems such as brake and tire inspection, AC system and other common problems. Horse Stable volunteers
Sign up for the Hilltop Riding Stables volunteer class. This will teach you all you need to begin volunteering at the stables and the skills to care for horses. The class will be held Saturdays and Sundays and is open to ages 14 and up. For more information or to sign up, call (706)791-4864.
