New reserved parking signs honor surviving family members
The Directorate of Public Works created and installed the signs using the new U.S. Army Installation Management Command logo.
Two of the current special designated parking signs now featuring the new IMCOM design are located in the commissary and Exchange parking areas. An additional seven new Survivor Outreach Services reserved parking signs can be found at Darling Hall, Freedom Park, the PX, at the Family Outreach Center, located behind the post library, and at the Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center.
The Survivor Outreach Services provides assistance and support to the families of fallen Soldiers.
“The SOS parking signs are one of the many Army gestures to recognize the sacrifices of the families of our fallen,” said Karen Lewis, Army Community Services Support specialist. “Events and physical recognition (such as parking signs) encourage our survivors to remain a part of the Army and military family by letting them know they are often thought about and their loved ones dedication to the military was not in vain.”
Fort Gordon drivers are reminded to reserve these designated SOS parking spots as means of honoring the families of the fallen.
