Post committed to full day of SHARP stand-down training
In order to ensure everyone on the installation is able to attend, training will be held all day with various start times. Training will be held from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. in Nelson Hall Studio B, 10 a.m. to noon in the Signal Theater, and 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. in Alexander Hall. Additionally, an enhanced services forum will be held in Gym 3 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and focus groups will be held from 9 a.m. 10:30 a.m. in Darling hall conference rooms A and B.
According to Sgt. 1st Class Toni Nelson, SHARP coordinator, the events are designed to sustain and enhance current SHARP training.
“The available training, activities, and information will span across the full spectrum of Fort Gordon, including all service members as well as civilian employees and family members,” she said. “The Stand-down will highlight services provided on the installation as well as in the community, including the Rape Crisis and Sexual Assault Services University Health Services, Inc. and the Veteran Affairs Military Sexual Trauma program.”
On the stand-down day, there will also be victim advocate training with participation from the post Criminal Investigation Division and Office of the Staff Judge Advocate, which will be held from 8:30 a.m. to noon in Olmstead Hall.
“This training is directly focused on the resiliency needed for caregivers and SHARP responders, who have in the last six months to a year advocated for multiple victims or been involved in highly challenging cases,” Nelson said.
