Rx Take-Back Day
National Prescription Take- Back Day will be held 10 a.m. - 2 p.m., Oct. 29, at Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center’s pharmacy area. This event provides an opportunity for the public to surrender expired, unwanted, or unused pharmaceutical controlled substances and other medications to law enforcement officers for destruction. This one-day effort will bring national focus to the issue of pharmaceutical controlled substance abuse. The program is anonymous and every effort will be made to protect the anonymity of individuals disposing of medications. No questions or requests for identification will be made. Intravenous solutions, injection devices, and syringes will not be accepted due to potential hazard posed by blood-borne pathogens. Illicit substances such as marijuana or methamphetamine are not a part of this initiative and should not be placed in collection containers. For more information, contact Michael Reed, Army Substance Abuse Prevention coordinator, at 791-5797.
