Furniture sales donated to local Fisher House
More than $27,000 was presented to Francisco Cruz, manager of the Fort Gordon Fisher House, during a reception hosted by IHG Army Hotels and Lend Lease Sept. 12. The donation was made possible through the sale of furniture no longer needed after hotel renovations, in addition, the funds generated will help provide “comfort homes” to families whose loved ones are being treated at Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center.
“Thank you to Lend Lease and the entire IHG Army Hotels - Fort Gordon team who were instrumental and the driving force in generating and raising these funds for the Fisher House,” said Cruz.
This isn’t the first time that Lend Lease and IHG Army Hotels have teamed up to provide support to the Fisher House Foundation at Fort Gordon, an additional $42,000 was donated earlier this year, bringing the total to more than $68,000 this year.
With Lend Lease as the exclusive asset manager and developer for the Army’s entire lodging portfolio and InterContinental Hotels Group as the hotel operator, the privatization of Army lodging portfolio is comprised of more than 11,000 hotel rooms on 39 military installations.
“Early on, we realized that we had opportunity to provide much-needed support to organizations like the Fisher House and other military support groups by selling existing furniture during hotel renovations,” said Kate Alger, development manager for Lend Lease. “Throughout the delivery of the PAL program more than $200,000 has been donated to local Fisher House’s across the country.”
